I’m a Scientist is like school science lessons meet the X Factor! School students choose which scientist gets a prize of $1000 to communicate their work.
Scientists and students talk on this website. They both break down barriers, have fun and learn. But only the students get to vote.
This zone is the Organs Zone. It has scientists studying health and disease in various parts  of our bodies. Who gets the prize? YOU decide!
Great question!
Well, I’d like to thnk that something really drastic might happen, but given we are all spread out over the whole surface of the earth, I’m not sure anything would happen! In fact, even if we were all in the same place, nothing would happen!
Would be cool if it bounced us all like a trampoline, though, right??

All the earthworms would quake in their boots.
The real answer is….nothing. We’re very insignificant compared to the planet.

If everyone in the world got together and jumped. Would the Earth move? Yes. Would it be noticeable?
Some people with a lot of time and brains have done this calculation and they say that the mass of the Earth is so huge that it’s pretty darn difficult to get a detectable speed of movement.
Also, there is the whole issue of getting everyone at the same place at the same time and getting them to jump at the same time. I have enough issues asking my students to be quiet in lectures.

Wait, wouldn’t the fact that everyone hits the earth at the same time too negate the possibility of the earth “moving”. It is round after all (captain obvious!) 😀
Answer: nothing! nothing at all…
