This happened to me this very morning. Its really windy outside and I was riding very fast down royal parade.
I wonder if our eye’s go blurry because the wind dries out the surface of your eye. The cornea of the eye is constantly lubricated by tears, even when you’re not crying. The cornea acts as the eye’s outermost lens. It functions like a window that controls and focuses the entry of light into the eye. I can imagine that having no tears can change the way that light bounces off the cornea and can result in blurred vision.
Maybe Yashar can elaborate on this one a bit more.

With the “wind” force increasing as you ride fast, your tears that lubricate your eye start to dry up, and you feel the need to blink more and more. The cornea is responsible for 3/4 of your eyes total focusing power (take that lens!), and acts to diffract light into the back of your eyes. The eye needs a lot of things to work for it to function properly – the presence of tears is one of them.
You may have learnt in physics or science class that light bends as it goes from one element to another, bending inwards if the second is more dense, or outwards if less (best example is when looking above at an object in water. The light traveling through air has to now go through water which is more dense. That’s why you perceive/see things being in one spot underwater whereas they are actually in another… but i digress!)
So more tears need to be produced (by the lacrimal gland) to lubricate the eye. Until then things look a little fuzzy!
Expert tip: To stop this from happening, riders often wear glasses while they ride! The glasses stop the air from drying out the tears, making them more comfortable to keep going. Give it a go 😀
