Question: Why is it the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and vice versa?

  1. The simple answer is that the nerve fibres cross. But I think you are really asking why is this so.

    Current research seems to indicate that in order to reduce connection errors in a complex computing network such as the human brain, crossing over of the fibres is necessary. I think this is a contentious issue. I would like to know more about it too.
