Question: Is there a part of the body that the brain has no control over?

Keywords: ,

  1. Yep, your brain is the boss of your body. It runs the show and controls just about everything you do, even when you’re asleep. Not bad for something that looks like a big, wrinkly, gray sponge.

Here’s a great website with some information about all the areas of the brain, if you are interested in ore information!

  2. There are many things that the body can do all by itself without the brain constantly checking in. The spinal cord neurons can keep you walking without any input from the motor areas. The heart has pace maker cells that keep your heart beating with a regular beat. The gut has a mini brain that controls the contractions. You can take the gut out of the body & it will contract all by itself.

The brain can override all this if necessary, but having somethings in the body that it doesnt need to control all the time frees it up for other stuff.

  3. I suppose that skin/ hair and nails would be the only parts of your body that are not controlled by the brain, in that they grow without being under direct control of the brain (without being told to grow).
Technically though, the brain controls every part of your body, even the parts that function without having to be told “what to do” (such as the heart being told to beat, and diaphragm and lungs being told to breathe!!!)

    Hope that makes sense 123becca!
Great questions coming from you 😀
