I am of the opinion that there probably is something else out there.
I’ve actually spent more time thinking about this since I started I’m a scientist than I have for a long time I think, because theres been lots of great questions on space and aliens!
I think my view as a scientist, is that it would be unlikely, in all the galaxies, that we could be the only thing out there! I think it’s pretty clear that Earth is the only planet in our solar system that has a suitable climate for humans to live on, but I find it. Wry hard to believe that there’s not another planet somewhere that could also have something living on it.
I also think that it’s entirely possible that they are so far away that we may never ever know they exist.

I was lucky enough to meet an astrophysicist 2 weeks ago. Her job is to find the first stars in the universe. As she was explaining how she plans to do this — mind boggling stuff — she mentioned that the universe is over 14 billion years old and that since the big bang, its been expanding. Its been getting ever bigger! The chances of us finding something like us out there now, or even evidence of life from the past 14 billion years is so very small. If Professor Rachel Webster can find the first stars however, what next …..

Simply put, yes.
There are thousands if not millions of galaxies out there. To think that out of all of these, not one planet aside from ours can sustain life… it’s a little closed to be honest!
But there would be a vast distance between us and them. So will we make contact?! Who knows!! 😀
