Question: do you have any advice for people that are inspired to be something they love to do when they grow up?

  1. Absolutely, Katie!
My advice is that if you’ve found something you love doing, that you should definitely find a way to make it into a career!
I really really love science and it definitely helps to motivate me to get up in the morning, when I’m doing something I love!
Life truly is easier when you are doing something you love!!

What is it that you are passionate about?

  2. That’s great! So few people find a real passion in life. If you can make it into a career, do it! Just make sure that you won’t ruin it for yourself by doing it every day. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Follow your passion for sure.

I asked a scientist, who is likely to be awarded with a Nobel prize one day, how he ended up on the path he did. What decisions did he make in order to be so successful in his career and find such amazing things? He told me he didn’t carve out his career trajectory when he first started off but rather he simply followed his nose. He kept doing things that interested him. He made the point that if you are really interested in something you are likely to work really hard at it, and then being successful will naturally follow. Being successful might be earning enough money to keep doing it, winning awards, or just really enjoying your job. If you are really into what you love, you will find a way to do it.

Keen to know what you’re passionate about too.

  4. I remember chatting with you last week katie!
Like I said then, go for it!!! If you are truly passionate about it, and will put 100% of your energy towards it, then there should be nothing stopping you. As Carina said, it’s not everyday you see someone that’s so passionate and knows what they want. I’m sure your parents see this and will be behind you.

Looking at it from a different perspective: Life isn’t as short as people think! You will have time to change your path if it didn’t work out as you planned. But you have to try first. You can tell if something is for you after working on it for a few good years.
