Question: What is the biggest portion of a brain which has been removed from a human and they still survived?

  1. Nice question, convictions.

I think the answer might be that you can remove half of the brain. It’s called a “Hemispherectomy” and they sometimes do this when a person has terrible epilepsy that is coming from one side of the brain. You can survive with just one half of the brain. They only do this in EXTREME cases though.

  3. Although sometimes babies are born with no cerebrum (the big part)…just the brain stem. And they survive (sometimes for a few years). Though they aren’t really a completely functioning person…there is no conscious thought possible.
