I’m a Scientist is like school science lessons meet the X Factor! School students choose which scientist gets a prize of $1000 to communicate their work.
Scientists and students talk on this website. They both break down barriers, have fun and learn. But only the students get to vote.
This zone is the Organs Zone. It has scientists studying health and disease in various parts of our bodies. Who gets the prize? YOU decide!
The word science comes from the Latin word, “scientia”, meaning “knowledge” and that really is what science means to me.
Its the way we get knowledge, by looking, and testing and experimenting and understanding.

I think I’ll go with the Science Council’s definition:
Science is the pursuit of knowledge and understanding of the natural and social world following a systematic methodology based on evidence.
I like this one because of the addition of “systematic methodology based on evidence”. There are a lot of things out there that would like to be thought of as science, but they don’t involve evidence or a methodology. They are pseudosciences….and people should be very careful that they know which one they’re dealing with! An opinion does not make a truth.

The discovery of “how and why” is what science is all about. It’s the pursuit of knowledge…

Science is about looking at evidence and deciding what it tells us about the world.
