I’m a Scientist is like school science lessons meet the X Factor! School students choose which scientist gets a prize of $1000 to communicate their work.
Scientists and students talk on this website. They both break down barriers, have fun and learn. But only the students get to vote.
This zone is the Organs Zone. It has scientists studying health and disease in various parts  of our bodies. Who gets the prize? YOU decide!
Great question.
Well, i’m not sure about Victoria, but we can extrapolate (scientists love doing this!)
In Australia, 1/6 couples will need some kind of help to have a baby.
Each year in Australia, about 40,000 people use IVF and about 11,000 IVF babies are born.
So i would assume that about 10,000 people in Victoria get IVF and probably about 3000 babies are born.
This is going to be pretty close to the right number i think!

Nice work with the guesstimation Hannah! 🙂

Wow. I would have guessed much higher. So many of my friends had to use IVF to conceive! But that’s the problem with anecdotes versus data!

That’s a lot.
