I’m a Scientist is like school science lessons meet the X Factor! School students choose which scientist gets a prize of $1000 to communicate their work.
Scientists and students talk on this website. They both break down barriers, have fun and learn. But only the students get to vote.
This zone is the Organs Zone. It has scientists studying health and disease in various parts of our bodies. Who gets the prize? YOU decide!
I work with mice and i don’t find it disgusting.
They are actually quite cute, and they don’t even smell too bad!
The mice we use in the lab are quite different from the ones your might see in your house or garden.

I’ve worked with mice in the past. I didn’t find the mice themselves disgusting, but I didn’t like the smell of the animal research facility, and I wasn’t too keen on the tumors that we were making them grow.
Mice themselves are very cute.

If mice are left in a cage for a long period of time, they become smelly (urine etc)! Some people have allergies, so it’s difficult for them to work with animals. On top of this, they do bite you if you’re not careful.
All in all, it’s not really that bad!

I work with mice guts- so it can get a bit gross but the work itself is really interesting – not disgusting at all!
Mice are very intelligent and cute!
Agree with Carina- the smell of the animal housing facility is challenging! :p

I love working with mice. They are intelligent & look pretty darn cute when they groom. I spend a lot of time around my mice because my experiments take a while. The mice get used to me & are happy to sit on my lab coat. Even in my pocket.
