Question: Hi hannah, on the chat on Thursday morning at 9:00-9:30 you said that you would give me the recipe for gnocchi if I asked you a question. So here it is- Do you feel comfortable in your office each day? If you could keep your job as a scientist, but work somewhere else, where would you work? eg. by the beach, highriser etc..

  1. NIce one…post the recipe here please, hannah!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

And I’d much rather have an office outside. Though I’m not sure I’d get anything done….

  2. Hi jelly,
I too would love to see the recipe ๐Ÿ˜€
Unfortunately, with some research, you cannot work outside of a controled environment that the laboratory gives you. When working with dangerous substances and even animals, we can’t let them run wild into the environment (pun intended!)
Having said that though, I doubt anyone would pass working in a tropically oasis/haven!!! ๐Ÿ˜›
    Hope that makes sense.

  3. Here’s the recipe….

    1 cup plain flour
    1 egg
    1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
    250g ricotta cheese
    1teaspoon garlic powder
    Salt and pepper.

Whisk together everything but the flour. Try and get it nice and smooth.
Add the flour and fold it in with a spatula. You might need to out it on a clean bench and pat the last bit if flour in. It should make a ball.

Cut it into four pieces and roll them into long snakes about 2cms wide.
Then cut them into 2cm pieces.

Drop them into a huge pot of boiling water and cook them just until they come to the top and then take them out straight away and drop them into your favorite pasta sauce (bolognese is my favorite) and eat them straight away.

    They are easy and delicious!!

And I’d Love to have an office by the beach, but I’d probably surf too much and not work enough….

  4. hehe- this is fantastic!

Hannah I’d love to see you on Masterchef too just so I can find out about your recipes! ๐Ÿ™‚ (there is so many parallels between chefs and scientists!)

If I could continue to work as a scientist but work somewhere else I thin I’d love to be on the international space station orbiting around earth and seeing things like this: https://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2012/02mar_aurorasunderfoot/

  5. Ha! Thanks for the recipe jelly.

I too wish I could have an office near the beach. Sometimes this is a possibility. When I have a lot of writing task to do I can escape to the coast. Its quiet & I have no Internet access. Just me, the sound of the waves & my laptop.
