I’m a Scientist is like school science lessons meet the X Factor! School students choose which scientist gets a prize of $1000 to communicate their work.
Scientists and students talk on this website. They both break down barriers, have fun and learn. But only the students get to vote.
This zone is the Organs Zone. It has scientists studying health and disease in various parts  of our bodies. Who gets the prize? YOU decide!
I am not sure! That’s the exciting thing about the exhibition. The idea is to pair a neuroscientist with an artist and see what they come up with together.
I know an artist in Hobart who has put electrode hats on the heads of musicians in an orchestra. The artist can then turn the musician’s brain waves (which are measured as electrical activity) into colours as they play different notes. The audience will hear their music but also see the colours above the orchestra. The colours will be created by their brains working hard to make music. I like how this art brings our attention to the fact that playing a musical instrument requires lots of brain activity and we can see it in real time as the musician are playing.
I hope our artists can come up with something as cool as this!
