Hi bennyboy.
Great question. Eye Infections are eye ailments caused by bacterial, viral, or fungal agents. Depending on how they get into the eye, the can damage either the front of the eye (cornea, conjuctiva) or the back of the eye (retina) etc.
Just like any other part of your body, the infection needs to be cleared before any damage is done to the area. If left unattended, infections in the front of the eye can cause corneal haze (cloudiness) or in some cases the cornea to melt; in the back of the eye there can be damage to photoreceptor layer and leading to a decrease in your vision or vision loss/ blindness.
Hope that helps 🙂
