I’m a Scientist is like school science lessons meet the X Factor! School students choose which scientist gets a prize of $1000 to communicate their work.
Scientists and students talk on this website. They both break down barriers, have fun and learn. But only the students get to vote.
This zone is the Organs Zone. It has scientists studying health and disease in various parts of our bodies. Who gets the prize? YOU decide!
I haven’t ever used x-ray technology but neuroscientists do use x-rays in very powerful microscopes to see the building blocks of cells. Instead of the x-rays use to take a picture of a broken bone in your arm, scientists use powerful magnetic fields to take pictures of the human brain because these are safer.
I am about to start an experiment where I use very small electrical probes to measure when mouse brain cells are active. There will be a lot of electrical equipment and wires involved in this next experiment!
