I’m a Scientist is like school science lessons meet the X Factor! School students choose which scientist gets a prize of $1000 to communicate their work.
Scientists and students talk on this website. They both break down barriers, have fun and learn. But only the students get to vote.
This zone is the Organs Zone. It has scientists studying health and disease in various parts  of our bodies. Who gets the prize? YOU decide!
Cyanide is a nasty (though natural) substance that keeps the ATP reaction in cells from working (ATP generates energy for your body…without it your body can’t do anything at all!). It’s most dangerous when it’s a gas, because then you can breathe it in and get it all through your cells. Your cells can no longer make energy, and your body shuts down. The most common source of cyanide exposure (outside of mining and industrial processes) is cigarette smoking!!! What I always found really interesting is that cyanide smells like burnt almonds…but not everyone can smell it. I can!
